Canadian tractor sales down 5% in February, combine sales up 25%

According to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers’ monthly “Flash Report,” the sales of all tractors in Canada in 2019 were down 5% over February sales last year.

For the year, a total of 2,501 tractors were sold, which compares to 2,858 sold through February 2018, a decrease of 13%.

For the month of January, two-wheel-drive smaller tractor (under 40 HP) were up 23% from last year, and 40 & under 100 HP were down 15%. Sales of two-wheel-drive 100+ HP were down 37% from last year, and four-wheel-drive tractors were down 75% for the month.

For the year, two-wheel drive smaller tractors (under 40 HP) were up 2% from last year, while 40 & under 100 HP were down 21%. Sales of 2-wheel drive 100+ HP are down 30%, while 4-wheel drive tractors are down 41% for the year.

Combine sales were up 25% for the month. Sales of combines for the year totaled 139, an increase of 28% over the same period in 2018.
